In April 2015, a local Charter School contacted us and asked us to create a table for their AV room for sound and lighting purposes.
Created from maple, designed to be sturdy and durable, yet still have aesthetic appeal, we went with a modern feel – clean lines, natural finish, and a little artistic flair, we used a torsion-box construction for stability, and mortise and tenon joinery between the top and legs. Because this table needed to have a light board, plus a sound board, we created a functional space by spacing holes along the back for cords, allowing maximum usable space. The legs have the visual appeal of the square openings cut in. Simply finished with a clear Polycrylic, the top and sides are smooth as glass, yet durable enough to withstand the equipment, all the movement of the student techs, and hold up to the test that only a piece in a school would need to endure.
