A short time back, a customer approached us to have a dresser repaired and touched up. The dresser had a broken leg, and was in serious need of some attention. A piece from the 1920s with a stand-mounted mirror, this walnut dresser had a softly curved front, with 4 drawers and some gorgeous pulls.
We took some to assess the damages done to the legs, and the original casters, removed the casters, rebuilt the leg, lightly sanded the dresser and drawers and mirror stand. We applied a coat of perfectly matching Special Walnut Stain, followed by 3 coats of Satin Polycrylic topcoat, then buffed and waxed the pieces to further protect them.
The original casters were damaged beyond repair, forcing us to source them from a company that specializes in reproducing antique hardware. They were a perfect match to the original hardware. We replaced the hardware, and delived this beauty to the owner, up 3 flights of stairs, where it proudly graces her bedroom. She was thrilled!
