Garden Storage Bench

Our creation saga continues to unfold with this beautiful outdoor storage bench.

Created using Alder, this box is durable, weather-tight and functional as well as beautiful.

Simply designed, we built a basic box then clad it with alder boards spaced evenly, then topped with a hinged lid using the same cladding style, with a slight overhang at the ends. This bench is large, providing ample space to hold your spades, rakes, trowels, gloves, watering cans, potting soil, empty pots or seed trays, a kneeling pad, and even your favorite garden hat. It is also designed to be more than sturdy enough to hold two adults, while still being elegant and eye-appealing enough to have sitting on your deck or patio.

Because this piece is designed to be outdoors, we opted for a clear finish, and several coats of Spar Varnish to finish.
