In the Fall, we received a request from a Design Company that was working to create a clubhouse space in a community to create several tables for the space which could be used for puzzle assembly, and game-playing.
We were excited to work with a team of folks dedicated to creating a space where neighbors could come together and become friends, spending time together, enjoying things that didn’t only revolve around electronic devices or food.
We worked with the lead designer on the project and utilized an inspiration photo of a piece they had fallen in love with, but didn’t have the dimensions they needed for the space.
Using Alder, we spent the time laying out the design, milling, cutting, sanding, and assembling the tables. A tapered leg met with a simple arched apron that housed a lined drawer with an elegant brushed nickel pull and full-extension, soft-close slides. Gracefully resting atop the base, was a 2 inch deep, lined box to be used for puzzles or games, with a removable top, to allow the games and puzzles to be safely stowed in their current status, and the tables to be used for other endeavors as needed.
After sanding to 220, we applied a black stain and 4 coats of crystal clear finish, and finished with a buff and wax.
Delivered just in time for the Holidays these tables now grace the community lounge just 35 miles from our shop, and the residents have used them for everything from drinks and cigars to poker to bridge and cut-throat Monopoly among many other things.
